The CCSR Stingrays have been under Coach Dave’s tutelage since 1995. The social studies department chair, head swimming and diving coach since 2000 at Kennesaw Mountain High School and the president of the Georgia High School Swim Coaches Association, he grew up in Tucker where he was a member of the swim team at Shamrock High School and at Drayton Woods Recreation Club.
A recipient of the 2016 GCSL Margaret Gilbert Sportsmanship Award, Coach Dave has also coached middle and high school football for over 20 years. He also earned accolades as Coach of the Year by the GCSL in 2003, GHSA Coach of the Year in 2005 and Cobb County Swim Coach of the Year in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2012.
He has three cats and a twin brother named Jim that coaches the Thunderbolts and at Duluth High School. Proudly married to Holly for 23 years, together they are raising two kind and respectful children in a son, Brett and daughter, Reagan.
Coach Mallory was born in Savannah and moved to Lilburn when she was two. Her favorite color is blue and she enjoys all varieties of exercise. When alone in her car, she likes to sing badly to songs on the radio. She’s allergic to chlorine, latex and anesthesia. She began her career with the Stingrays in 1996 at age four and fully understands what swimmers experience at every level. Always ready with a positive word and a smile on her face, she likes 80’s music and is one of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. Mallory shares responsibility with Coach Sam of leading the team in Coach Dave’s absence.
Coach Sam started swimming for Cedar Creek when he was eleven. He helped Parkview High School win two state swim and dive championships. His favorite events were the 50 & 100 free style. While studying biology at Georgia State and a fan of classic rock, he can do his own laundry making him very popular with the ladies. He takes pride in challenging our seasoned swimmers and developing the young. Incredibly reliable, Sam shares responsibility with Coach Mallory of leading the team in Coach Dave's absence.
Coach “Lex” joined the Stingrays at age six by invitation from her childhood friend and teammate, Katelynn Thomas. A PHS graduate, she competed as a pole vaulter on the track and field team and was captain of the dive team. An only child and lover of nature, she enjoys hanging out in her hammock with her eleven year old Dachshund named Lola. She would like a career as a behavioral analyst and, when asked, she thinks that it would take approximately 7.1 billion pennies to fill up our pool. A student at Coastal College of Georgia, Lex is a hard worker and she likes all of her vegetables, especially Brussel sprouts.
Coach Natalie is a graduate of Parkview High School where she was a versatile member of the swim team for four years. She is a success again as a junior at the University of North Georgia pursuing a career in law. She has a 7 1/2 shoe size and tries to pass as Lynda Carter (AKA: Wonder Woman) every chance she gets. Red M&M’s are her favorite snack. As a dedicated 16 year team member with a generous heart, she is the ONLY Stingray to be featured on America's Funniest Videos and she swears her driving has gotten better.
Coach "Vanna" is a also a graduate of Parkview High School and chose to continue her education at Vanderbilt University majoring in medicine, health and society. She swam competitively for the Creek for 13 years. She also swum and played tennis all four years at PHS, where she represented both sports as captain. Incredibly well-rounded, she was selected as Parkview's 2017 Outstanding Female Scholar Athlete and Gwinnett County's Positive Athlete of Georgia. She does not like bananas, uses a Wilson K Bold racquet on the court and she dedicates herself to gaining the trust of our younger swimmers.
Named after her grandmother and a billboard, Coach Kelley is a graduate of Parkview HS where she ran cross country and track. Attending Georgia College and State University, she likes salt and vinegar Lays, blueberry iced coffee and chicken nachos from Los Hermanos. With a pet fish named Gill, she would love to learn to surf. An avid Monopoly player, she prefers sneakers over flip flops, pancakes over waffles and she could watch The Sound of Music on loop. A Stingray for 14 years, she says her favorite month is June because it's warm, school's out, it's her birthday and, of course, Thursday nights!
Coach Aidan began swimming at Cedar Creek when he was six years old. A recent Brookwood High School graduate with a 3.9 GPA, he helped win three swim and dive state championships and is the reigning Georgia high school 100 free and 100 back state champion. Voted Gwinnett Prep Sport's 2017 Winter Athlete of the Week, he is GCSL's 15-18 50 Back record holder. The oldest of four siblings that are also accomplished swimmers, his favorite meal is chicken Alfredo. Coach Aidan is continuing his education and swimming career at Auburn University in the fall.
A senior at Parkview HS, National English Honor Society member and recipient of the 2017 Kathy Minerd Award, Coach Lauren wants teleportation as her super power. Realizing she was tall in 4th grade when lining up for picture day, she's a vegetarian with a lab named Scarlet. A pursuer of politics and fan of world travels, she thinks manholes are round because all good things are round like pizza, pie and pancakes. Her favorite part of being a Stingray is listening to Coach Dave yell, "It's that Gwinnett County education!"
A sophomore at Georgia Gwinnett College specializing in Early Childhood Education with a 4.0 GPA, Coach Caroline is also a lifeguard at Mountain Park Aquatic Center. A Parkview HS graduate, she was a four year member of marching band and color guard. A competitive horsewoman since age of nine, her favorite color is purple and her favorite meal is her dad's spaghetti and meatballs. She has a dog named Ruby and the last good book she read was "The Hate U Give" by Angie Thomas. A Stingray since age four, she says that the best part about the team is that it is a second family.
A sixteen year old high school senior and Green Bay Packers fan, Coach Rebekah begins her freshman year at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in spring 2019 majoring in environmental science with a specialization in animal conservation. Big sister to 11 year old Stingray, Larisa, both were adopted from Guatemala. Coach Rebekah prefers fries over tots, mayonnaise over mustard, Cape Cod chips, Vans shoes, watching Captain America and eating those little cookies served on Delta Airlines flights. A dedicated LUG Head at Grace Church, she named her cat Tori after the Disney show Victorious. She has two favorite meals: a brat, Dr. Pepper and strawberry cheesecake or eating grilled chicken at the pool with the CCSR families.
